"And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies?Who can forgive sins but God alone?” When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? "
Luke 5:20-23
Many would think that the ability to heal a paralytic is a big deal but this misses the point of what Jesus is saying. The more difficult miracle to perform is the forgiveness of sins. We are so silly to be impressed by the healing of the paralytic that we forget that Jesus performed the more difficult miracle first.
"Which is easier?"
The healing of the paralytic is easier. The forgiveness of sins would require the death of the Son of God.
