I am reminded of a few key truths today. I have always struggled with the theology of seeking the welfare of the city, mainly because in a nation that idolizes work, the last thing you want to do is to give a rationalization excuse that God is supportive of this.
But I know its importance. Over the past few months I have been consumed by a massive engineering project, the biggest thing I have ever been a part of as a young engineer and a chance to make a difference in the way people use their fuels.
So as you read, please pray that I will seek the welfare of the city by:
(1) Making cleaner fuels. It won't pleaae those who want to move away from fossil fuels but the change is significant as we face an inertia getting people to change the type of cars they drive
(2) Making the plant safe. I will never forget Deepwater Horizon. I need to be responsible. People can die. Belittling safety calculations because its not the cool stuff of engineering will hurt people
(3) Be professional. Understand all the technical stuff behind things. A monkey can input stuff into a spreadsheet.
(4) I would rather be left alone to do my work. And need to be patient with people trying to understand things.
