A summary of 1-2 Kings

The theology behind 1-2 Kings is perfectly summed up by this verse. Will there be a King that fits this bill. 1-2 Kings is a frustrating list of failures of the Kings who can walk this way. There will come a Son of David who walked with the Lord in even greater ways that David did. David wrote the Psalms but He lived and fulfilled the Psalms. David committed adultery but He never committed adultery with the Bride He so loves. For this and so much more, He is enthroned forever.

Which is easier to say?

"And when he saw their faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies?Who can forgive sins but God alone?” When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, “Why do you question in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? " Luke 5:20-23 Many would think that the ability to heal a paralytic is a big deal but this misses the point of what Jesus is saying. The more difficult miracle to perform is the forgiveness of sins. We are so silly to be impressed by the healing of the paralytic that we forget that Jesus performed the more difficult miracle first. "Which is easier?" The healing of the paralytic is easier. The forgiveness of sins would require the death of the Son of God.

'Tis Jesus' precious blood

By William J. Irons (1812-1883) What sacred fountain yonder springs Up from the throne of God, And all new covenant blessings brings? 'Tis Jesus' precious blood. What mighty sum paid all my debt, When I a bondman stood, And has my soul at freedom set? 'Tis Jesus' precious blood. What stream can sweep away My sins just like a flood, Nor lets one guilty blemish stay? 'Tis Jesus' precious blood. What voice is that which speaks for me In heaven's court for good, And from the curse has set me free? 'Tis Jesus' precious blood. What theme, my soul shall best employ Thy harp before thy God, And make all heaven to ring with joy? 'Tis Jesus' precious blood.
